Approved Contractor An Approved Contractor will certify that his or her installation satisfies the Regulations. If breaches of Regulations are found in certified work, the legal responsibility falls upon the Approved Contractor and not the owner or occupier. Installation of items marked # in the Advanced Notification table (see section on Advanced Notification) by an Approved Contractor does not require Advanced Notification. An Approved Contractor will provide a certificate of compliance to both the person who asked for the work to be carried out and South West Water when work is completed. South West Water supports the national Water Industry Approved Plumbers Scheme (WIAPS) whose members have demonstrated their experience of plumbing-work and knowledge of the Regulations. WIAPS members also must have liability insurance cover. Choosing a WIAPS member will give peace of mind along with the assurance of a professional job well done. A list of members can be obtained from WIAPS and South West Water. |
