70,000 people in Plymouth are treated to better water this Christmas, as South West Water finish work on Mutley PlainAs you read this, all over Plymouth people are turning on their taps and pouring themselves a glass of water. Most will not even give a thought to where that water comes from, or the quality of the pipes that deliver it. What the people of Plymouth will be noticing, is how much fresher their water tastes and clearer it looks!
This improvement in water quality is largely due to the massive engineering project that has been taking place in Mutley Plain since June, where South West Water engineers have been relining two 24" cast iron trunk mains and a 9" cast iron distribution main. ![]() Putting the sparkle back This essential maintenance work is part of South West Water's multi million pound scheme designed to 'Put the Sparkle Back' into drinking water all over the South West. The Company are delighted that such a massive investment in The work, which cost approximately £1.23 million, will guarantee cleaner water for around 70,000 people in the City of No doubt everyone will be incredibly happy to see that South West Water has left this popular shopping area in time for the Christmas rush and all advanced warning signs have now been taken down on all routes into Mutley Plain!
