SWW is celebrating......after picking up a major award for training at the Utility Achievement Awards 2002.
The company was recognised for its success in creating and delivering a unique programme of workshops involving more than one hundred staff and managers from South West Water and its key contractor partners. The aim was to improve working practices in these important relationships through the creation of a team ethos with everyone working to a common set of objectives. The end result is the delivery of a high quality service to customers in the maintenance and improvement of the region's 10,000 mile long water supply network. The award reinforces South West Water's position as an industry leader in partnering since it was adopted as a strategy in the mid 1990s to deliver the company's huge sewage treatment improvement programme. Stephen Bird, South West Water's Operations Director, said: "We are all delighted that our work to develop effective working practices that help deliver a high quality service to customers has been recognised. We are fully committed to provide our people and those who work with us with the best possible training and to have this recognised is a bonus." The award, which also recognised South West Water's water service partners T J Brent and John Kennedy and training facilitator Bywater, was presented by television personality Jonathan Ross at London's Grosvenor Hotel. -ENDS - 31 December 2002 |
