Water in the school

Schools and colleges across the west country can now tap into a brand new web-based educational resource thanks in part to South West Water.

The company has joined with a number of other water companies and organisations to produce water conservation project material which will help with many areas of the school curriculum.

The 'Water in the School' website provides everything teachers and pupils need to set up and run a water conservation project in the school and also gives the opportunity for schools to carry out their own water efficiency audit.

Brian Hooper, South West Water's Water Conservation Manager, said: "We are delighted to offer this additional information source to local schools to help students and their teachers have more practical information available for their studies.

"Water comes into many areas of the curriculum these days and the demand for information is increasing. We hope that with easy access through the web site we are giving our schools and colleges the help they need to meet their educational requirements."

Key features of the web site include computer models of the main 'water using' areas in the school showing how water can be saved, activity and information sheets, school case studies and animations showing how a water meter and other water conservation items work.
