Good Beach Guide accoladeSWW got the thumbs up in the new guide.
The company's whopping investment in the west country's environment through a massive programme of construction of new waste water treatment works around the coast was hailed in the guide. ![]() Good Beach Guide accolade The Marine Conservation Society, which produced the 2001 guide, was this year able to recommend a record number of beaches and said this was "fantastic news for the South West". SWW's Operations Director Dr Stephen Bird said: "We couldn't agree more - and we're obviously delighted at this endorsement from such a high profile source." The guide recommends 113 beaches in the South West, over half the total number sampled, with more than 80 of the beaches in Devon and Cornwall. Dr Bird added: "The Marine Conservation Society sampled more beaches in the South West than the year before and yet found they were able to recommend a record number. All of this is a real dividend for the South West's residents and of course our vital tourism industry - and it's been made possible by the £1 billion 'Clean Sweep' programme that South West Water has been delivering over the past decade or so." - ENDS - For further information please contact Paul Breakwell, Publicity & Information Officer on 01392 443021.
