South West Water Chief Executive Bob Baty turned out to give a boost to World Water Day

Mr Baty is pictured with Assistant SWW Librarian Chris Martin, who dressed up in a giant tap outfit to mark the occasion.

The 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro led the United Nations General Assembly to designate 22 March each year as World Day for Water.

The theme for this year's World Water Day is 'Water and Health' - so this Thursday is a unique chance to remind people of the contribution water makes to this area of our lives.

SWW staff will be busy raising money for World Water Day - and passing it on to WaterAid, the UK's specialist development charity working to help poor people in developing countries achieve sustainable improvements in their quality of life by improved domestic water supply, sanitation and associated hygiene practices.

For more information please contact SWW's Media & Communications Officer Paul Breakwell on 01392 443021.
