Save water and win Businesses all over the South West are learning how to save water, cut their bills and win awards. In an industry first, South West Water has introduced a Water Efficiency Certification scheme to help companies large and small. The certificates are to be awarded at three levels – Exceptional, Comprehensive and Basic – and will honour the efforts businesses make to reduce their water use. Exeter's Silversprings Hotel is the first business in the region to attain an 'Exceptional Level' certificate after slashing its water use by 25% after fitting dual flush toilets, a new low consumption washing machine and flow restrictors to taps and showers. Owner Richard Power said: "South West Water has been most proactive in helping us to achieve these standards through free audits, detailed advice and encouragement. "We have found these changes to be quick, easy and interesting to implement as well as having rapid payback times." Water Conservation Team Leader Jon Wood added: "We hope many businesses across the region will make a commitment to saving water and take pride in displaying their certificates."
