Our plans for investment between 2010 and 2015

In January 2010, South West Water announced it would be investing £705 million in improving customers services and upgrading its water and sewerage networks over the next five years.

Here are some of the areas we will be investing in between 2010 and 2015:

  • £75 million on upgrading sewage works and £60 million on maintaining sewers
  • £24 million to upgrade water treatment works at Wendron, Bovey Cross, Drift, Restormel, Greatwell and Tottiford
  • £22 million on a targeted programme to reduce discoloured water incidents by a quarter
  • £10 million on upstream thinking to restore wetted moorlands in Exmoor, Dartmoor Exe Valley, Ottter Valley, Tamar, Fowey River and West Penwith to help control future water treatment costs
  • £10 million to replace 132,000 meters across the region
  • £5 million to improve flood protection at 14 treatment works
  • Reducing the number of properties at risk of sewer flooding by 30%
  • Replacing 26,000 pipes between our mains and customers' property
  • £10 million to improve bathing and shellfish quality
  • £10 million to increase hydropower and other generating activities by 13.7 GwH
