Private sewers - contractors The tender process to select contractors for work on private sewers which transferred to the ownership of South West Water on 1 October 2011 is now complete.
The two successful contractors are UK Drainage Network Limited and Metro Rod. Metro Rod is a subsidiary of the Water Division of the Spice Group. We ran a drop in session in September to give small, local contractors the opportunity to network with our recently appointed contractors as well as South West Water staff. We estimate at least 4,300km of drains remain in private ownership after the transfer. A considerable quantity of work is associated with maintenance of these pipes.
