Why save water?
Here at South West Water we're passionate about saving water - and we do all we can to encourage our customers to save it too.
We all use water without really thinking about it. Every time we turn on the tap, flush the toilet or put the washing machine on, we're using a precious and limited resource.
The good news is that by following a few simple measures we can easily cut water wastage, save money and protect the environment.
Saving water is easier than you think. You don't need to make big lifestyle changes to save water. Simple steps like spending one minute less in the shower or turning the tap off while you brush your teeth can set you on track to start saving water.
We all need to consider our impact on the environment and if we reduce the amount of water we waste we can make savings on our energy bills too. Remember, the less water you use, the more money you can save. Around 20% of your energy bill will be heating water, so reducing water waste also means saving energy. Over the course of the year, it can add up to a significant saving.
Waterwise have estimated that the energy used to pump, treat and heat water for a year in an average family produces more carbon that a return flight from London to New York.
South West Water has formed partnerships with various bodies throughout the South West in an effort to spread the WaterWise message.
