Our investment
We’re investing in essential upgrades to the water network serving Launceston, with work taking place on Tavistock Road. This project forms part of our Resilience Scheme and will help strengthen and futureproof local water supplies as the area continues to grow.
As Launceston and the surrounding communities expand, demand on the water network is increasing. To support this growth, we are installing additional water mains to increase network capacity and improve overall resilience. This will help reduce the risk of supply interruptions during periods of high demand and provide greater flexibility in the event of an emergency.
What the work involves
We will be installing new sections of water main to enhance the existing network. These upgrades will increase capacity and improve reliability, ensuring the system can meet future demand.
The work will take place within the public highway on Tavistock Road and will involve excavation to lay the new pipes. All affected areas will be fully reinstated once the work is complete.
Traffic management and access
To carry out the work safely, temporary traffic management will be required. This will include the use of two-way and four-way traffic lights.
We understand that this may cause some disruption. We will work to minimise inconvenience as much as possible and ensure traffic flows safely through the area
Benefits of the project
- Reduced risk of supply interruptions
- Improved resilience during emergencies
- Increased capacity to meet peak demand
Project timeline
The scheme is planned to start on April/May 2026 and is expected to be completed in May 2026.
