Teign Village and Chudleigh mains replacement

Investing in a more reliable water supply

We're replacing approximately 791 metres of ageing water main between Teign Village and Farley Hill, and between Combehead Cross and Ball Hill, Chudleigh. The scheme will replace older cast iron pipework with new, larger-capacity mains to help improve reliability and strengthen the local water network.

The existing water mains are more prone to bursts and can restrict flows. By installing modern pipework, we can increase capacity, reduce the risk of future interruptions and help provide a more resilient water supply for local communities.

Benefits of the scheme

Once complete, the new water main will:

  • Improve the reliability of the local water network.
  • Increase the capacity of the water main.
  • Reduce the risk of bursts on ageing pipework.
  • Help strengthen the resilience of local water supplies.

What to expect during construction

The new water main will be installed using open-cut trenching. Temporary traffic management, including road closures and traffic signals, will be required at various stages of the work. We'll work to minimise disruption wherever possible and thank customers for their patience while these improvements are completed.

Project timeline

The scheme is planned to start on 27 January 2027 and is expected to be completed by 31 March 2027.
