A select number of businesses across the South West were chosen to trial our new Seasonal tariff for 2 years. To keep the trial fair, this group represent a wide range of different industries. This means we can also learn how the new charging impacts different sectors.
We want it to feel rewarding to use less water and protect the environment. That’s why we’re working with your retailer to introduce a tariff that’s designed to be:
Effective - by saving water you can protect rivers and the local environment
Fair - because it costs us more to provide water in summer
Supportive - we can help your business to save water. Keep scrolling for more details
We automatically switched you over to the new tariff on 1 October.
You're charged less for your water in winter, and more in summer (when the higher temperatures mean people tend to use more water). We can’t yet confirm what those charges will be for next summer, but we’ll publish indicative rates in October 2024 and final charges in February 2025.
We expect the trial to last 2 years which will ensure our findings are accurate, and we’ll be able to bring a fairer way of charging to more people in the South West.
How much you’re charged depends on your business’ use of water. Please contact your retailer to find out more on how this will be reflected in your bill.
The government has set targets to reduce business water demand by 9% by 2038 to make sure the UK always has enough water for everyone. Business water use varies depending on how water is used in day-to-day work activities and for the personal needs of employees.
