Extension of the benefits of our Seasonal tariff for businesses

Your participation over the last two years has made a real difference to understanding how new ways of charging for water and we’re now evaluating the trial before making long-term decisions on how this could work in the future.

The formal trial period has come to an end, however you’ll benefit for another six months, as we’re extending the lower Winter rate until 31 March 2027.

A new way of saving

We wanted it to feel rewarding to use less water and protect the environment. That’s why we’re worked with your retailer to introduce a tariff that’s designed to be:

   Effective - by saving water you can protect rivers and the local environment

   Fair - because it costs us more to provide water in summer

How this trial worked

A selected group of customers switched to the tariff on 1 October 2024.

Under the Seasonal tariff, we charged less in winter and more in summer for each litre used.

This helps ease financial pressure in colder seasons, while encouraging water-saving habits in warmer months.

Helping you think about your water

The government has set targets to reduce business water demand by 9% by 2038 to make sure the UK always has enough water for everyone. Business water use varies depending on how water is used in day-to-day work activities and for the personal needs of employees.
