Customer update - 29 May 2026
Improving your water supply and pressure
We’re aware that customers in areas including Nancledra, Trevethoe, Halsetown, Towednack, Cripplesease and Carbis Bay are experiencing ongoing issues with water supply interruptions and low pressure. We’re very sorry for the disruption this has caused. We understand how frustrating and inconvenient this has been, and we want to reassure you that we are actively working to improve the situation.
What’s causing the issues?
We’re undertaking essential improvements in your area. These improvements are essential in maintaining water quality and resilience now and for the future. These works have been planned and underway for some time, with adjustments being made to the network to reduce impact to customers.
At Trevethoe Pumping Station, we’ve been undertaking works since earlier this year to improve the service reliability for customers in Nancledra and the surrounding area.
Since March 2026, work has also been underway at Steeple Service Reservoir, which supplies the higher parts of St Ives and the rural district of Nancledra. While we complete this work, parts of Carbis Bay may have experienced some supply issues. To alleviate this, we have adjusted our network to minimise the disruption to customers.
The recent period of hot weather has also led to a significant increase in water use, which has placed additional pressure on the network at peak times. The combination of the essential work and recent high demand means that customers may have experienced temporary low pressure or an intermittent loss of supply.
What we’re doing to reduce the impact
We are:
- Reconfiguring the network to maintain supplies where possible
- Using tankers to support water pressure in the area
- Closely monitoring the system and responding in real time
When will the issues be resolved?
We expect the work at Steeple Service Reservoir to be fully operational by 30 June 2026.
We’ll continue to keep you updated on progress on this page.
