Wendron Water Treatment Works

TR12, TR13 and TR20 9 Cornwall

Update 10 January 5:00pm

We’ve now restored water supplies to more than half of our customers following severe disruption caused by Storm Goretti. Thank you for your patience while we work in very challenging conditions. Our teams will continue working throughout the weekend to restore supplies to those still waiting.

The disruption was due to widespread power outages and an unrepairable fault at our Wendron Water Treatment Works, which required a generator replacement on Friday evening. Restarting a treatment works is a complex process, and we’re taking every step to ensure your water is safe. When your supply returns, it may appear grey due to tiny air bubbles, this is normal, harmless, and will clear over time.

While Storm Goretti was beyond anyone’s control, our Customer Promise applies:

· If your supply isn’t restored within 12 hours, you’ll receive £50 automatically, plus £50 for every additional full 12-hour period. · For full details, please visit: South West Water – Our Customer Promise

To support customers, bottled water stations are open at:

  1. Old Flambards Car Park, Helston, TR13 8BN (W3W: erupted.overjoyed.panthers) – Open 24 hours
  2. Folly Field Car Park, Marazion, TR17 0EP (W3W: unopposed.toward.speedily) – 7am–10pm
  3. Mullion School, Meaver Road, Mullion, TR12 7EB (W3W: enrolling.stopwatch.visions) – 7am–10pm

We’re also delivering bottled water daily to Priority Services customers. If you haven’t received your delivery yet, our teams are on their way and will work into the evening to reach everyone.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during these difficult conditions. We’ll keep you updated as soon as we have more news.

Update 10 January 9:00am

We’re really sorry that some customers in Helston and the surrounding areas have been without water since Friday morning. This issue was caused by Storm Goretti, which led to a power outage at our Wendron water treatment works.

Unfortunately, restarting a clean water treatment works isn’t as simple as switching it back on. It’s a chain of processes that need to be brought online in the right order, and each stage must stabilise and be checked to make sure everything is safe.

The severe weather has also made it difficult to open bottled water stations earlier today, with fallen trees and safety concerns on site. Thank you for bearing with us while we worked through these challenges.

We’re pleased to confirm that bottled water stations are now open at:

Old Flambards Car Park, Helston, TR13 8BN (W3W: erupted.overjoyed.panthers)

Folly Field Car Park, Marazion, TR17 0EP (unopposed.toward.speedily)

These stations will be open until 10pm and throughout the weekend while we continue to recharge the network.

We’re also delivering bottled water directly to our Priority Service customers daily and if you haven’t received your delivery today then we are on our way. Our teams are doing everything they can to reach those who need us most as quickly as possible and will work in to the evening to ensure all deliveries are made.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during these difficult conditions. We’ll keep you updated as soon as we have more news.
