Could you save 5 litres of tap water a day?

Use less and save more for everyone this summer

Overall our reservoirs have plenty of raw water stored but there’s only so much water we can treat and pump to your homes, schools and hospitals. We need your help to reduce demand and keep the network flowing for everyone this summer.

We can’t do it alone. We need everyone to play their part – small changes in water use make a big difference when multiplied by our 1.8 million customers. If every one of our customers saved 5 litres of tap water a day, that would save nearly 10 million litres.

It's about the environment...

Water is a finite resource and it is both costly and energy-intensive to collect, treat and distribute it, especially in a hilly and dispersed region such as ours. Summers are predicted to get drier and winters wetter, with more intense heavy rainfall. Now more than ever, we need to do everything we can to help nature out. Every litre of water saved is a litre left in the environment. The less water we use, the more we can keep our rivers and streams flowing and nature thriving.

And it's about you...

Over 80% of our customers are on a water meter. If you're on meter, taking control of your water use can make a big difference to the amount you pay. Simply turning off the tap when brushing your teeth can save up to £46 a year, per person.
