Your unmetered bill explained

An unmeasured bill paid for by standing order. Unmeasured means you do not have a water meter, so you pay a flat rate for water.

1. Customer number

Your customer number is a unique number that has been assigned to your account. It's helpful to have this number to hand, if you call us or submit a form online.

2.  Contact details

Website and telephone number if you have any queries and want to contact us directly about your bill.

3.  Amount brought forward

This was the amount present on your account before this bill was produced.
If ‘debit’ is shown: Your last payments didn’t fully cover your previous bill, so the remaining amount has now been carried over.

If ‘credit’ is shown: You paid more then your last bill, so the extra has been added towards this bill

4. New charges for this period

This is your bill amount for the new bill period, since your last bill. This is for the services you receive from us, be that water, sewerage, or both.

5. Account balance

This is the amount on your account following the new bill being produced.

An assessed bill is based on the amount of occupiers in the property and what they would use on average if they were on a meter.

6. Finding it hard to pay

For customers struggling to pay, our Accounts helpline has been provided so that you can speak to one of our advisors, and the financial support section of our website has also been listed if you wish to read up more on what South West Water offers.

8. Bill date

This tells you when the bill was produced.

9. Bill number

This is for reference. It’s useful if you need to contact us to query something on your bill.

10. Drinking and wastewater charges

These are based on the number of days in your billing period. The amount you pay depends on your tariff.

Your tariff might be linked to your property’s rateable value or calculated as an assessed charge based on the number of people living in your home. Assessed charges apply if a water meter can’t be installed.

11. Account balance

The amount on your account now that the new bill has been produced.

An assessed bill is based on the number of occupiers in the property and what they would use on average if they were on a meter.

12. Messaging boxes

The messaging boxes on the right hand side of the bill are questions we frequently get asked. If you have a question take a look at these messages as they might be able to provide you with an answer.
