We're investing in essential upgrades to the water network across Cornwall to help strengthen and futureproof local water supplies.
As communities grow and demand on the network changes, it's important that our infrastructure continues to provide customers with a reliable supply of drinking water. Through a series of resilience schemes across Cornwall, we're installing new sections of water main to improve network flexibility, increase capacity and strengthen the resilience of local water supplies.
These improvements will help reduce the risk of supply interruptions during periods of high demand and provide greater flexibility when responding to network issues or emergencies.
What the work involves
We'll be installing new water mains at locations across Cornwall to replace ageing infrastructure and improve the performance of the local network.
To minimise disruption wherever possible, we'll use a combination of construction techniques, including trenchless methods such as directional drilling and pipe bursting, alongside traditional excavation where required. All affected areas will be reinstated following completion of the works.

Project timeline
This project is expected to start in October 2026 and finish in the summer 2027.
